The Humane Society of Sedona - 2115 Shelby Drive, Sedona, AZ
In September 2008 the Humane Society of Sedona celebrated its grand opening of its much needed new state-of-the-art animal care center. With the new facility the Humane Society of Sedona is able to offer the community more than ever before by taking in more animals than before as well as the various programs. Kids and Kritters Camp offers summer camp for kids, which includes learning about animal care, craft activities etc. Birthday Parties in the Education Center for the kids in our community. (SNIP) Spay/Neuter Incentive Program. Each day 70,000 puppies and kittens are born. As long as these rates continue there will never be enough homes for all the animals. With tough economic times, the Humane Society of Sedona is able to assist low-income families by encouraging them to spay/neuter their pets. This is an organization in our community that needs our support as it supports us.

Ocean Conservancy - 1300 19th Street, NW, 8th Floor, Washington, DC 20036
They are obviously not local but it's a more broad organization that needs donations in order to address the problems facing our oceans, or we run the risk of destroying one of the richest sources of life and food on earth. On the surface the ocean appears untouched by the environmental devastation that has swept across our planet. But beneath the surface, trouble lurks. Thousands of majestic ocean animals die each year entangled by commercial fishing gear. Coral reefs, once full of life are in steep decline. Overfishing has devastated many important species. Pollution has taken a deadly toll on the ocean. Taking a stand for the ocean and the dolphins, whales and other creatures that live there. Recently two independent studies found that ocean ecosystems are at the point of collapse. The results are alarming: 90% of the large predatory fish have been decimated . . . 35% of coral reefs have been lost worldwide.

The Fund for Animals - 200 West 57th Street, New York, NY 10019
For the last 41 years they have been saving and caring for thousands of animals at their rehabilitation centers and sanctuaries across the country. From veterinary training and Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in New England to their Fund for Animals Wildlife Center in San Diego where injured ill, and orphaned wild animals are given 24-hour medical treatment, they have made it their mission to provide a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves. Babe is a 24 year old African Elephant who has lived at the Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch for over 10 years. She was born in Kruger National Park in South Africa, where her mother was killed by poachers. Babe was captured and sold to a traveling circus in the United States, constantly on the move, receiving very poor and irregular care. Her former life as a circus performer took its toll on her legs and feet, but now she receives the specialized care she needs to make her comfortable and happy. The Fund has won landmark lawsuits to protect animals from trophy hunting and commercial trapping and the organization is currently fighting for animals with the help of their Animal Protection Litigation section. This group of full-time attorneys, law clerks and pro bono law firms are defending animals in federal and state courts from cruelty and abuse. The Fund's current cases seek to protect endangered species, stop the abuse of circus elephants, keep national wildlife refuges safe for animals and much more.

The Humane Farming Association - P.O Box 3577, San Rafael, CA 94912
The Humane Farming Association (HFA) leads the National Veal Boycott and this campaign has resulted in an unprecendented drop in the sale of factory-farmed veal. Veal calves are chained for life in small wooden crates barely larger than their own bodies. They cannot walk or even turn around. Veal calves are deliberately kept anemic in order to obtain the light colored meat sold as "milk-fed" veal. Denied all solid food, they suffer chronic diarrhea. Veal calves are deprived of drinking water. They gain weight by drinking more of their drug laced liquid feed in a futile attempt to quench their thirst. This organization, now over 225,000 members strong, is the nation's largest working to protect farm animals.
